### Some context
Founded in 2019 by researchers and technologists, Metagov works through three main areas: community, research, and operations. Its community consists of individuals who participate in shared projects and discussions, primarily online. The research team studies how digital groups organize themselves, including forums, social platforms, and systems that use blockchain technology. Many of these systems are known as [[Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs)]], which are like digital cooperatives governed by their members. The operations team supports this work by providing infrastructure and coordination. Metagov is funded by public interest groups, research foundations, and organizations experimenting with decentralized technologies, such as the [Filecoin Foundation](https://fil.org/), the [Mina Foundation](https://www.minafoundation.com/) and the [Ethereum Foundation](https://ethereum.foundation/).
