## Notes from 14 April 2025 [[2025-04-13|← Previous note]] ┃ [[2025-04-15|Next note →]] I learned that on 10 April 2025, a French senator submitted a [formal question](https://www.senat.fr/questions/base/2025/qSEQ250404118.html) to the government about the lack of reform measures for the public hospital service (_fonction publique hospitalière_). According to the question itself, although the Minister of Transformation and the Civil Service undertook in March 2024 to extend the [[Public Sector Reform in France|reform of the senior civil service]] (announced by Macron in 2021) to the hospital sector, no implementation has yet taken place. The reform was supposed to bring hospital directors' salaries in line with those of state administrators and introduce a new bonus system for hospital managers. I am now very curious to know whether the reform in France has only been implemented at national level, or whether regional and local administrations have also been excluded, as was the case in the health sector. In any case, it is interesting to see how workforce management in the health sector is a central issue in civil service reform agendas both in France [and in the United Kingdom](https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/crknrrz7ln6o).
